General Description

  • The Business Analyst is responsible for the facilitation and gathering of business/functional requirements and support of fraud systems, services and applications that help drive business decisions and outcomes within the organization. Support strategic initiatives and drive the standardization of process documentation. Identify and implement solutions and processes to increase efficiency and overall productivity within as assigned area of responsibility. This includes the following tasks: conduct assessments of threats and vulnerabilities, new products, and Fraud operations. Based on the assesses of vulnerabilities and severity develops and/or recommend appropriate mitigation countermeasures in operational and non-operational situations. Also, this position has responsibility for incident management processes and is required to perform investigations and develop remediation plan for all the issues detected. Manage the analytics and reporting of the different operational areas in scope. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executes pre-defined procedures for identifying fraudulent activity.
  • Create and implement new solutions/processes to mitigate fraudster behavior.
  • Analyzing data to understand user and fraudster behavior.
  • Gather, review and analyze the business results and needs to identify business problems and alternatives to propose solutions.
  • Ability to investigate and solve problems using multiple data sources and systems.
  • Recommends departmental process changes to adapt to new and evolving behaviors associated with fraudulent charges.
  • Design and document Business Requirements for new solutions.
  • Communicating investigation findings and resolutions internally.
  • Constantly looks for new ways for improving performance and operational efficiencies to prevent fraud.
  • Supports ther team in a variety of topics such as authorization analysis, SMT presentations and special projects.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and presents statistical data of plans to help identify business results, effectiveness of plans, problems and propose solutions.
  • Performs independent analysis of internal and external data to support needs for business units. Prepare and present recommendations in presentations.
  • Mantains the highest level of collaboration, partnership, and ability to work with all levels of Popular.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This Job has no supervisory responsibilities but in special circumstances may lead the work of others.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field.

Experience

At least two years related experience in business analysis or project coordination. Risk assesment experience is preferred. 

Certifications / Licenses (Nice to have)

Business Analyst Certification
PMP
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)

Other Qualifications

  • Intermediate (Advanced is a plus) in the use of Office 365 Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Power BI.
  • Proficient in using Visio and data managing tools such as SAS, Cognos, Power Pivot, among other.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Strong technical aptitude, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player, comfortable with fast-paced, changing environment and ambiguity.
  • Process development and implementation experience.
  • Ability to define, aggregate and analyze business results for management decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize work, manage time, and respond effectively to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Process improvement oriented
  • Proficient knowledge on tools and methodologies such as design thinking, customer journey mapping, programming concepts and analytics.
  • Capability to collaborate in effective teams
  • Detail oriented and organized
