Credit Analyst (Closing) | Central East

General Description
This position is responsible for the effective closing process and servicing of a designated portfolio. Also provides day to day support to a designated Commercial Banking Center administration team to ensure customers are effectively serviced.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Reviews and analyze credit approval documentation to determine the appropriate due diligence necessary to document the loan (loan closing) and perform the collateral perfection without exceptions or discrepancies. Gather, review and process closing documentation (internal and external) adapting to the transaction complexity, this includes good standing certificates, appraisals, proof of insurance, title commitments, tract searches, flood determinations, UCC searches, tax lien and judgment searches, among others. Analyze and interpret all closing documentation.
• Review and interpret renewals and restructures approval documentation for closing complex collateral transactions to ensure that all details are aligned with the approved transaction. Includes internal and external documents ensuring that final documents signed by borrowers meets all approval conditions.
• Maintain digital file and prepare new commercial credit digital files. Periodically review existing documentation in files and pending documents in CL2000 system for accuracy and consistency, assure all information is chronologically updated and protect the Bank's collateral position.
• Ensures data integrity when booking is completed. Verify for accuracy new loan booking data on system against note terms and conditions. Interpret results and report findings related to loan portfolio. Identify posting errors and submit for corrections.
• Coordination with internal units (taxes and insurance, appraisal ordering and review, Collateral Review, Popular Insurance, etc), external parties (lawyers, insurance brokers), and with borrower to ensure clarity and compliance with approved terms to ensure all collateral was accounted for and recorded (perfect collateral position which is critical to mitigate losses)
• Verifies all documentations referred to internal units to ensure its accuracy and prevent revisions. Review, analyze and validate loan documentation prepared by Loan Operations such as Operational Note, Transmittal and Modification Form to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with credit approval, internal policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Responsible for collecting, analyzing and making sure there are no discrepancies for complex closing documents based on type of transaction/collateral requirements, review and sending the facility pocket to post closing department. Monitor and resolve closing discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Relationship Managers (Credit) and internal legal division to ensure that legal counsel is assigned to cases where representation is necessary.
• Research, investigate and resolve customer discrepancies, requests and payments. Works with Relationship Officer and monitors Exception / Findings Reports. Takes steps to correct errors.
• Identifies potential exceptions as a result of transactions, compiles collateral files according to the Commercial Credit Manual procedures, arranges and review loan package for delivery to the Post-Closing department, coordinates the return of all original loan documents and necessary supporting for the booking according to Bank Policies and Procedures.
• Collaborate with the CBC Administration team to support on other credit administration tasks during high volume periods.
• Request financial statements to customers and obtain all necessary supporting documentation (financial statements, tax returns, inventory, receivables, work on hand, etc) and order credit reports as needed to keep files current and update. Conduct investigations for loans, researching client disputes, incorrect billing, non-receipt of statements and late charges.
• Monitor loan maturity dates and document loan extension requests.
• Coordinates with administration team to keep customers in compliance with financial reporting and covenant requirements.
• Handle customer requests related to loan closing status, escrows, insurance and other collateral matters for existing commercial credit borrowers and new transactions.
• Maintains customer profiles and keeps Relationship Officers advised of major developments; assists with managing customer relationships day to day requests.
o Ensure respective databases are accurate and up to date with customer's most recent information.
• Act as liaison with various units associated with commercial closing process (Loan Ops Teams) responsible for providing service to the commercial customer including but not limited to the processing of loans, payments, risk, discrepancies, collateral perfection etc.
• Manage the application of payments on the loan system to conform with the terms of the loan documents. Ensure all details are recorded in accordance to the loan accounting procedures.
• Participate on special projects requested to the Commercial Banking Center's administration team.
Education
Experience
At least two (2) years of experience in financial analysis, lending, or related experience
Additional Requirements
• Oral and written communication skills in both Spanish (advanced level) and English (basic/intermediate level)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
• Knowledge in the following systems: CL2000, CLP, PICS, CLIS, Salesforce, Docusign, Documentum, among others
• Strong attention to detail skills
