General Description
A Technical Data Product Owner is a strategic leader within the Enterprise Data & Analytics function within Popular, responsible for the full lifecycle of data products including strategy, development, launch, and revenue generation. This role focuses on creating data products that cater to the specific needs of the financial sector. The Data Product Owner ensures that data products adhere to industry regulations and contribute to informed decision-making and financial reporting. The individual collaborates with cross-functional teams, engages with clients, and drives revenue growth through data products. You will be part of diverse teams of professionals across different geographies to deliver a wide range of data and analytics services. You will be solving complex issues and driving growth across the Enterprise Data & Analytics function.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data product management, financial data analytics, or a related field within the financial sector.
Licenses OR Certifications (Optional)
CSM, PMP, PMI, CSPO, PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, data governance, data analytics, product management principles, and revenue generation strategies.
- Experience with cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, GCP, AWS.
- Proficient in SQL, data analysis, and profiling.
- Familiar with Data Lake, Snowflake, Redshift, Hadoop.
- Knowledge of Data Vault 2.0 and Dimensional modeling.
- Past projects utilizing data science, AI/ML, data visualization, BI tools, and techniques.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Snowflake, and other cloud-based data management tools and technologies.
- Strong technical background to understand and solve complex platform challenges.
- Proven track record in Agile teams and frameworks to deliver iterative solutions efficiently.
- More than three (3) years developing scripts or data pipelines using modern programming languages such as Python (preferred), bash, Ruby or JavaScript.
- Expert level and/or knowledge (3+ years) of Cloud technologies such as AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP. Candidates have architected data solutions in the Cloud such as Data Lake design, advanced analytics (Sagemaker or Spark/EMR) and streaming technologies (Kafka or Kinesis).
- Minimum of three (3) years working with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation and have designed custom modules that can be consumed either internally or by use of third-party organizations.
- Deep knowledge (3+ years) of DevOps principles and tools such as Git, Docker, GitLab, Nexus or Jenkins. Have designed custom builds or orchestrations in the data space using these tools.

Base Salary & Benefits
Our base salary for this position located in Chicago, IL generally ranges between $150,000 and $160,000 annually, depending on business needs and, on your qualifications, and experience. Base salary does not include incentive compensation, commissions, or any other type of remuneration or benefits. In addition to salary, Popular's well-rounded benefits package for regular full-time and part-time employees includes a comprehensive health plan, flexible time off options, and savings and investment plans. Seasonal/temporary employees are not eligible for these benefits.
