General Description

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer under the Information Technology division. This individual should have a combination of hands-on cloud experience and a teamwork mindset to lead the implementation of Cloud Platform Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working within the Cloud Platform Services team to ensure implementation of platform capabilities.
  • Incorporates entire application lifecycle in automation, including end-to-end and performance testing, automated remediation of issues, auditable release tracking process.
  • Drives significant improvements through simplifying and accelerating cloud platform practice both through technical projects and procedural and technical coaching.
  • Leads multiple products or work streams simultaneously.
  • Guides and coaches less experienced peers to become more productive and effective team members.
  • Proactively engages with other Teams.
  • Leads the implementation of continuous delivery systems and methodologies on AWS.
  • Implements software development life cycle to deliver Cloud solutions.
  • Delivers the development of automated solutions to monitor and support software development and release processes.
  • Leads automation of security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.
  • Leads the deployment of monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on AWS.
  • Manages and maintains tools to automate operational processes.
  • Development of various infrastructure components including web stacks, database systems, security tools, and networking/Cloud environment configurations.
  • Supports development/engineering team to drive, design, implement and maintain end-to-end automation from build, implement, deploy (code check-in), operate and maintaining the CI/CD deployment pipeline.
  • Leverages DevOps Automation Tools to support engineering team in improving the CI/CD deployment pipeline, and to extend the functionality of IT Infrastructure making use of APIs and open-source tools with sound knowledge of Python programming, web programming, and designs that scale.
  • Manages system automations, writing scripts to extend the functionality of IT Infrastructure making use of various APIs and open-source tools with sound knowledge of Python programming, web programming and scaling challenges.
  • Participates in establishing architectural standards that enable DevSeCOps practices like infrastructure as code, policy as code and CI/CD.
  • Constantly develop knowledge base of current and emerging technologies. Research new and emerging solutions. Assesses their relevance and potential value to the organization and present information to teammates and management.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related field.

Preferred Certificates and Licenses

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (mandatory)
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Associate (mandatory)
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (preferred)

Experience

  • Ten (10) years or more of relevant IT experience.
  • Seven (7) years or more of experience working with public cloud platforms.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with AWS.
  • Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Prior programming background in at least ONE language: C++, Java, Python, Ruby etc.
  • Experience with various DevSecOps tools including Gitlab, Jenkins and Nexus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Deep understanding of Cloud computing technologies and workload transition challenges
  • Knowledge of AWS Well Architected Framework and Cloud migration industry standards and best practices
  • Knowledge of development processes and methodologies
  • Deep knowledge of Automation services like - Lambda, API Gateway, Jenkins
  • Knowledge of DevOps tooling landscape and experience integrating various DevOps tools together to provide end to end application lifecycle management
  • Deep software architecture and programming skills
  • Strong scripting skills, i.e., Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl, etc.
  • Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment
  • Understanding of tagging
  • Understanding of application and infrastructure logs
  • Keen interest in new technologies, willingness to research, and self-study to keep skills relevant.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams.
  • Innovative and ability to think outside the box for creative problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals of varying backgrounds, levels, and technical expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with great attention to detail and accuracy, intuitive, assertive, proactive, and positive.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment.
  • Must be self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in financial services/banking a plus.
  • Experience in agile/scrum environment is a plus
