General Description:

Responsible for overseeing strategies and activities related to insurance distribution activities. They collaborate with various teams to develop and execute effective plans, ensuring the achievement of customer service, product innovation and sustainable growth targets. This role involves developing and managing a team by working closely with all internal stakeholders, external partners, and insurance agents to maximize product availability and market optimization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifying concepts that meet customer demands in collaboration with insurance carriers.
  • Leveraging BPPR's digital capabilities through insurance product offerings in Mi Banco web page.
  • Developing and maintaining products in any appropriate web pages.
  • Creating promotional campaigns increase customer awareness.
  • Creating strategic alliances with not-for-profit organizations to promote products and corporate image.
  • Visiting distribution areas to evaluate customer-specific needs and participate in meetings, fairs, and other events.
  • Supports Popular vision and mission, values and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related actions plans.
  • Provides direct supervision and development opportunities for employees by training, mentoring, assigning duties and providing recognition.
  • Provides leadership to insurance companies’ account executives assigned to distribution channels.
  • Overseeing operational job-related activities an assignment including premiums collections, billing processes, claims monitoring and reporting, compliance with regulatory reporting and accounting.
  • Manages financial results for all distribution channels by:  Developing plans based on research, focus groups and financial analyses and others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Cont.)

  • Improves the effectiveness of new and existing products and processes by:  Developing new products and processes or enhancements to existing products and processes, Partnering with key stakeholders to improve offerings or the enhancement of the existing processes. Channeling and addressing customer complaints according to company policy and enhancing service as result of feedback received: and Periodically review the procedures and manuals related to insurance offerings to keep them up to date.
  • Identifies, addresses, or escalates business items (for example, internal resistance, new rules, and regulations. Conceptualizing new systems or enhancements to existing systems to support business optimization; and Communicating issues immediately to proper the venue and recommending solutions to peers, team, and upper management.
  •  Develops new products and services by : Researching customer and product trends .Designing new product offerings or feature enhancements for existing products through a deep understanding of customer risk management needs and aspirations. Working cross-functionally to gain support from Compliance, Marketing and Legal in the new product development process. Negotiating complex business arrangements and contracts with potential partners. Maintain close communication with Popular to keep up to date with changes in products, new offering opportunities and new initiatives. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures (i.e. Self Assessments). Responsible for coordinating and conducting quarterly meetings with Insurance Companies to discuss performance metrics, claims and/or any other operational matters that warrants attention. Validation and making of income accruals and explanation of monthly variances. Preparation of the budgets for all areas of responsibility.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

 

Experience: 

At least 3 years of related experience. 

Banking industry experience preferable.

Extensive experience in insurance product distribution, with a proven track record of driving sales growth and achieving targets.

Three to five years of supervisory experience required. 

               Experience in actuarial or knowledge is highly desirable

Other Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  2. Strong knowledge of insurance products, market dynamics, and distribution channels.
  3. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  4. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with partners, agents, and internal stakeholders.
  5. Analytical mindset and proficiency in data analysis to identify trends, assess performance, track execution objectives, and make data-driven decisions.
  6. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop effective distribution strategies and address challenges.
  7. Proactive and results-oriented approach, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills, both in English and Spanish. 
  9. Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
