General Description

Lead a team of researchers to research User Experience based on data-driven products and services across platforms using a variety of methods, techniques, and tools.  Evaluate and strategize plans to recommend research projects and programs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of researcher, fostering excellence and creative thinking.
  • Work alongside managers involved in the transformation initiatives to help validate assumptions, test hypothesis. Work with UX Designers, Product Managers, Business Units, Engineers, Architects, research vendors and customers to develop user experience research plans, collect data and moderates design testing sessions.  
  • Identify existing insights that can supplement any new initiative or need, ensuring net new research investment is highly targeted and strategic. Find commonalities in findings to surface larger “macro” insights in a source of truth document accessible across teams.
  • Identify solutions that enable the research team to work more effectively on an ongoing basis and enhance the quality of research practices and deliverables, across the team.
  • Articulate and presents insights to diverse audience from C-suite executives to developers building the product.
  • Understand and interpret design principles and standards to evaluate effective design. Evaluate and manage relationships with research vendors and negotiate contracts and oversees the delivery.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, through active participation in the external UX research community, as well as attendance in relevant conferences and events, Act as a thought leader, sharing best practices and methodology to elevate the team’s capabilities through educational documentation/resources and workshops. 
  • Manage the budget and resources for UX research, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization. Oversee UX research hiring process & pipeline.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or designee.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in: Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Systems, Interactive Media, or related field.

 

Experience

5-8 years in a designated research role and experience managing projects.

 

Certifications / Licenses

No certifications or license needed.

Ability to foster trusting relationships with colleagues and clients.  Highly develop written and verbal communications skills in Spanish & English.  Presents numerical data effectively. Superior communication and interpersonal skills.  Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.  Polished in preparing presentations, executive summaries, and business reports in English for executive audiences.
  • Analytical skills: Stays focused on main issues, prevents irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with timely completion of assignments.  Collects, research and complements data; Synthesizes complex or diverse information.  Demonstrates attention to detail; Applies design principles; Generate creative solutions.  Strong quantitative, research and analytical skills.  Experience with data analysis, persuasive and informative writing, workload management, and process management.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Develops alternative solutions.
  • Project Management: Ability to prioritize and work with multiple projects and tasks with minimum supervision; self-direct and task switch between strategic and tactical initiatives regularly. Capacity to achieve results according to plan ensuring the expected quality. Excellent organization capacity to define priorities, meet deadlines, and flexible to change.  Knowledge on project coordination, identification of business needs, work plan, budget control, time management, resource allocation, team management and status reports.  Must demonstrate leadership, logic, and reasoning skills.
  • Operational/Regulations Processes: Knowledge on budget administration, resources allocation, organization’s policies, and regulations. Ability to establish, conduct and track operational processes properly.
  • Computer and Technological Skills: Proficient in MS Office 365. Experience with software’s, platforms, and programming languages tools such as: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Git, among others is desired. Understanding and proficiency of key design and front-end principles. Possess excellent well-structured coding skills and be able to translate design specifications into code. Must have strong software development skills, including experience with object-oriented programming and software design patterns.
  • Fully Bilingual Spanish/English.
