US Trainee Program

Popular has an established Associate Trainee Program for top-rated graduated college students. During the program, selected candidates will have the opportunity to rotate through the company as trainees for one (1) year to develop future leaders within Popular through diverse experiences. The trainees will participate in extensive trainings; community and leadership activities; work in special projects with assigned mentors or advisors, who will help them grow and make the most out of the experience.

In this position, you will:

  • Receive trainings and performs duties in several departments and business units. 
  • Learn line and staff functions, operations, management viewpoints, and company policies and practices that affect each phase of business.
  • Participate in job rotations and assigned projects in different business areas of the organization. Prepare and present the data results of the projects analyzed to management.
  • Observe experienced employees to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties.
  • Receive training in functions and operations of related departments to facilitate subsequent transferability between departments and to provide greater promotional opportunities.
  • Attend company-sponsored training classes.

To be considered, you will need:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance - Graduation date May 2019.
  • Earn a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or better.


  • Relevant internship or work experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience in Leadership positions or individual achievements within student’s organizations
  • Extracurricular activities (i.e.. volunteer work, mentorship, tutoring)

  • Strong Communications skills in English and Spanish
  • Strong Presentation skills
  • Strong ability to Communicate Ideas (Storytelling)
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Open to relocation
