Commercial Banking Specialist

This position is responsible for the effective servicing of a designated portfolio and also provides day to day support to a designated business banking team to ensure customers are effectively serviced, their inquiries responded to and operational situations resolved promptly and efficiently.

In this position, you will:

  • Maintain profiles of priority customers and keep assigned officers advised of major developments; assist with managing customer relationships.
     
  • Provide support administering day to day credit and loan process inclusive of department’s past due accounts, tickler review, credit extensions, and customer inquiries. This may include calling past due customers.
     
  • Review and process documentation for loan agreements and borrowing arrangements.
     
  • Review documentation for renewals and restructures as approved by management.
     
  • Prepare and review documentation requests, contact loan officers for missing information. Clarify facts and approvals.
     
  • Monitor overdraft accounts daily and report findings to assigned officers for approval. Contact customers as necessary.
     
  • Maintain file room and prepare new commercial credit files. Periodically review existing documentation in files for accuracy and consistency and assure all information is chronologically updated and recorded in Baker Hill.
     
  • Responsible for sending files for preparation and securing approval signatures of Satisfactions, Releases and UCC3s.
     
  • Prepare transmittal letters or ELODs for advances and pay down requests. Review loan’s status on each situation.
     
  • Receive and process customer payments. Verify loans on system prepare transmittal for processing transaction and handle wire requests.
     
  • Verify for accuracy new loan booking data on system against note terms and conditions. Interpret results and report findings related to loan portfolio. Identify posting errors and submit for corrections.
     
  • Prepare and mail financial statement requests to customers and obtain all necessary financial documentation, financial statements, tax returns, and order credit reports as needed to keep files current and update Baker Hill and ECM tickler.
     
  • Handle incoming customer calls, related to loan status, billing, escrows, and loan histories and account analysis. Conduct investigations for loans, researching client disputes, incorrect billing, non-receipt of statements and late charges.
     
  • Respond to vendors, accountants and auditors for balance verification.
     
  • Monitor loan maturity dates and prepare loan extension reqeuests.
     
  • Coordinate with business banking team to keep customer in compliance with financial reporting and covenant requirements.
     
  • Arrange closings of renewals and restructures and book same on loan system.
     
  • Coordinate with management and internal legal counsel to ensure that legal counsel is assigned to cases where representation is necessary.
     
  • Research, investigate and resolve customer discrepancies, complaints and payments.
     
  • Act as liaison with various units responsible for providing service to the commercial customer including but not limited to the processing of loans, payments, financial analysis, statements, etc.
     
  • Regularly interact with third party service providers; provide feedback to management regarding issues or concerns with provider.
     
  • Manage the application of payments on the loan system to conform with the terms of the loan documents.
     
  • Pro-actively seek information from clients and prospective clients to understand possible changing situations, needs and desired benefits, communicate information to relationship officer.
     
  • Ensure respective databases are accurate and up to date for customer information.
     
  • Compile data and generate management reports as needed.

Banking –

  • Knowledge of banking products, services, policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance related to area of responsibility (AML/BSA/etc).

Computer Skills –

  • Knowledge of basic computer operations.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Word to support office operations to produce a variety of textual documents, such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters.
  • Ability to accurately input information into and retrieve from the computer.

Customer Service

  • Highly professional demeanor with excellent  telephone skills and etiquette.
  • Utilizes various interpersonal styles and communication methods to positively assist and influence customers.
