Creative Marketing

The Manager of Creative Design plays an essential role in the marketing, creative, communications, and digital departments.  They are responsible for leading their team, developing creative guidelines, and directing creative work (both traditional and digital assets), including print collateral, websites, email campaigns, television and radio advertising, and many related tasks. They will produce promotional materials by developing presentation approaches; directing layout, designing, and copy writing; determining and monitoring production schedules, and providing work direction to staff. The Manager of Creative Design will rely on their extensive experience and professional judgment to plan and execute projects.

It’s a dynamic job. One day you may be writing headline copy for the launch of a new website, and the next, you can be directing a video/photo shoot. Thus, you’ll need to be an expert in all facets of the creative process in order to produce the best work.

The Manager of Creative Design must also be great leader with the ability to maximize the talents of their teams:

  • Effectively establish and communicate the goals to staff members, gain commitment, and establish plan of action for goal attainment.
  • Provide coaching, recognition, motivation, and skill development to staff members on a consistent and on-going basis.
  • Work with copywriters, graphic designers, web designers, account managers, brand managers, and other internal and external marketers on a daily basis.

This role will oversee 3 direct reports including a Graphic Designer, Content Developer, and Marketing Officer that manages our CLM program & Social Media. This position also oversees all external Graphic Freelancers and will be responsible for managing the creative process as well as print production.

In this position, you will:

Own, Manage and Maintain:

  • All creative design
  • Branch presence/merchandising/Brand strength
  • Art direction for photography & creative
  • Digital Design
  • Motion Design/Videos
  • Content Development aligned with proper messaging in conjunction with Content Developer
  • Copywriter (Taglines/Headlines)
  • Build out of storyboards
  • Conceptualization of design ideas re: Website(s)
  • Manage i-stock accounts
  • Manage Adobe Creative Cloud Account
  • Manage animation/motion graphics
  • Preside over video, radio, and photoshoots

Duties include:

  • Accomplishing work requirements by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, and coaching employees
  • Meeting work standards by following production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving operational problems; identifying work process improvements.
  • Meeting cost standards by monitoring expenses; implementing cost-saving actions.
  • Developing basic presentation approaches by reviewing materials and information presented by internal client.
  • Determining production requirements by reviewing creative project requests; considering scheduling factors as well as defining production schedules by conferring with external resources/vendors/internal teams.
  • Determining copy writing requirements, outlining basic presentation concepts, and coordinating creative activities.
  • Determining project content by reviewing and approving art and copy materials developed by staff.
  • Obtaining internal approvals by presenting final layouts to internal stakeholders/parties/Legal & Compliance.
  • Improving quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; recommending changes to art, copy writing, and production departments.
  • Developing project objectives; planning, scheduling, and completing design and production requirements for direct marketing, email marketing, and advertising (both traditional and digital).
  • Working cross functionally with project stakeholders/parties by compiling, analyzing, and reporting marketing results; forwarding plan projections and updates as needed.
  • Making recommendations for marketing plan by analyzing campaign results; identifying expansion opportunities.
  • Improving quality by studying, evaluating, and re-designing creative processes; implementing changes.
  • Managing creative projects/tasks on the internal online project management platform (PODIO) and handle all required approvals as needed.
  • Experience in Email design; Managing the email design tool
  • Experience in designing landing pages/web design from inception to completion. This includes: Creating wireframe based on copy deck, Managing design templates to create mock-ups, Providing assessment/recommendations/feedback on web designs provided by agencies. Creating visual layout of web pages and convert each design into HTML and CSS

To be considered, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in design, copy, and web best practices/guidelines
  • Ability to develop cross functional relationships ensuring an exceptional level of client satisfaction and support on a consistent basis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of design, copy, and web best practices/guidelines
  • Experience with a variety of software (Adobe Creative Suite), including Photoshop, InDesign, After-Effects, etc.
  • Experience in UI/UX and CSS design
  • Experience in creating digital assets/videos
  • A strong understanding of brand development and multichannel marketing concepts
  • Presenting concepts and working cross functionally with internal and external teams.
  • Other skills include: Project Management, Fostering Teamwork, Positioning, Organization, Coaching, Promoting Process Improvement, Proactive, Marketing Research, Vendor Management, Freelance Management/Developing Creative Standards, Owning and monitoring the brand standards/guidelines.
  • Strong technical skills as related to graphic design, social media, coding, and other essential skills.
