Team Leader - Commercial Banking (Middle Market)

This position is responsible for the supervision, coordination and development of a team of Middle Market lenders dedicated to the implementation of credit and non-credit services offered to commercial customers. Emphasis is placed on corporate accounts and prospecting through an effective call and follow up program for designated work group. The ideal candidate is an effective leader who is able to provide guidance and support to the team of bankers; monitor performance and provide knowledge, guidance and incentive for the team to be successful. The candidate needs to possess interpersonal and effective communication skills to build a collaborative working relationship across all lines of business, including the credit department. The target clients shall be Medium-sized businesses with gross revenues in the general range of $15 million to $250 million. Credit facilities to be considered will be in the general range of $10 million to $50 million.
In this position, you will:
- Manage a team of Relationship Managers with a goal of growing the team portfolio with new business while insuring retention of our current client relationships.
- Evaluate, analyze and recommend credit facilities within the established terms and conditions of the bank.
- Coordinate and supervise the administrative and credit operations of all employees.
- Ability to assess market demands and collaboratively work with credit and risk partners to ensure consensus on necessary structural changes.
- Interview customers and prospects for analysis, structure design, recommendations, documentation and processing of loan requests or credit lines.
- Develop and monitor effective call programs for designated work group.
- Responsible for setting various financial forecasts for the unit.
- Oversee the loan portfolio assigned to the team and offer guidance in financial analysis and commercial credit to work group.
- Ensure staff members adhere to established policies, procedures and controls.
- Effectively establish and communicate the goals to staff members, gain commitment and establish plan of action for goal attainment.
- Adhere to general bank regulatory procedures including BSA/AML as it pertains to “know your customer.” Provide coaching, recognition, motivation and skill development to staff members on a consistent and daily basis.
- Identify and visit clients and potential business customers to establish the bank's credibility, gain a full understanding of their needs, and evaluate appropriate products and services to satisfy their needs and educate them on the benefits.
- Establish follow-up mechanisms to offer alternative solutions.
- Support new marketing campaigns and product launches and the development of micro-marketing efforts to achieve sales results.
To be considered, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate Degree Preferred
- 10+ years of direct Commercial Banking Middle Market experience
- 3+ years of Management experience
- Knowledge of principals of commercial and consumer credit, commercial banking laws, bank policy, services, products, cost accounting, financial analysis and computer operations.
- Strong research and analysis of financial statements coupled with effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, selling and negotiating skills with effective sales ability and persuasiveness. Ability to effectively coach employees and develop teamwork with co-workers in other units.
- Effective organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.
- Computer literate; fluency in Microsoft Office programs, Excel analysis required
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships both internally and externally Problem-solving, negotiation & follow-up skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Base Salary & Benefits
Our base salary for this position located in [[state]] generally ranges between $225,000.00 and $275,000.00 annually, depending on business need and on your qualifications and experience. Base salary does not include incentive compensation, commission, or any other type of remuneration or benefits.
