General Description
Lead Consumer Credit Accounting portfolio unit that is responsible for personal loans and credit cards accounting, analysis and reporting for Puerto Rico and US.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the end of month processes for the unit, ascertain completeness of monthly tasks, including journal entries, variance analysis and reporting.
- Lead the analysis of accounting processes for new initiatives, new products, new processes, changes in accounting policies, business acquisitions, new services, and/or changes to existing processes.
- Ensures processes under the Unit complies with Internal Audit and SOX Procedures and Requirements. Maintain unit control matrix updated. Inform any deviation timely.
- Coordinate the support required by internal and external auditors during the year.
- Support business units in their initiatives, consultations, projects, and annual planning process.
- Support the Assistant Comptroller and Credit Accounting Managers as needed to ensure continuity of the daily work and ascertain the team achieve their overall objectives.
- Create development plans, complete, and discuss performance evaluations, ensure fulfillment of all operational/regulatory personnel processes and requirements.
- Reward and recognize good performances and create action plans for low performers.
Supervisory Responsabilities:
Supervises a team of 3 employees within Consumer Credit accounting unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Coach and develop employees. Foster a spirit of teamwork that allows for disagreement over ideas as well as diversity.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA License preferable.
Experience
At least five years of experience working in accounting.
Supervising experience preferable.
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Analytical ability to evaluate financial information.
- Able to prioritize, anticipate situations, identify problems, analyze their causes, and resolve them in a timely and accurate manner.
- Able to work with delivery dates, focused on achieving results through collaboration and teamwork.
- Strong planning and organizing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
- Able to lead and adapt to changes, learn new tasks and be able to work under pressure.
- Customer Centric: skills to maintain good relationships with clients, anticipate their needs.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish, both oral and written.
- Systems Proficient. Experience with SAP preferable.
- Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Availability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
