Business Analyst

General Description

In this role you will help ensure AI initiatives compliant and responsibly implemented, while also help advance the foundations of the AI governance within Popular.

This role blends operational execution, cross‑functional communication, and strategic thinking. It requires someone who can navigate ambiguity, wear multiple hats, and work side‑by‑side with the AI Lead to establish the practices, frameworks, and opportunities that will define the evolution of AI in the organization.

The ideal candidate can execute at a tactical level with a focus on outcomes, is a strong communicator and relationship builder, thinks strategically, and has the capacity to translate business needs, pain points, and goals into technology opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

AI Governance & Risk Framework

You will support the management and iteration of the internal AI governance process by:

Supporting the operation of AI governance practices, risk assessments, and approval workflows
Ensuring AI initiatives align with organizational policies
Maintaining central inventories of AI initiatives, tools, and proposals
Generate documentation as a result of evaluations and the governance process
Collaborating with Legal, Risk, Technology, and Cyber to ensure evaluations are completed
Monitoring evolving AI risk guidelines and translating them into actionable internal processes
Propose improvements to the AI governance process as opportunities arise

Discovery of High-Value AI Use Cases

You will support the identification and evaluation of new AI opportunities by:

Engaging deeply with business units to understand their objectives, challenges, processes, and technology stacks
Mapping business pain points and identifying the areas where AI could deliver measurable value
Facilitating ideation sessions and discovery conversations to surface, shape, and prioritize use cases
Documenting business context, requirements, assumptions, and desired outcomes
Translating business needs into clear technology requirements and readiness assessments
Supporting the development of business cases for AI initiatives

Operational Leadership in an Experimental Environment

You will thrive in a fast‑moving, ambiguous, and highly collaborative environment by:

Switching easily between strategic thinking and hands‑on execution
Managing multiple threads of work simultaneously
Creating lightweight processes that can scale as the team grows
Embracing uncertainty, experimenting, and learning quickly

Working closely with the AI Lead to build a high-performing, innovative function

Minimum Requirements

Skills & Competencies

Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
High adaptability, curiosity, and comfort with ambiguity
Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and systems‑thinking abilities
Ability to quickly build trust and rapport with diverse teams
Strong documentation, structuring, and synthesis skills
Proactive ownership mindset with willingness to get hands-on
Bachelor’s degree in areas such as Business, Engineering, or Computer Science.
Minimum of 3 years.

Technical/Functional Skills :

Familiarity with AI concepts, risks, and lifecycle fundamentals
Ability to understand technology requirements and translate them from business needs
Experience with documentation tools, workflow tools, or process design
Understanding of data flows, systems, or enterprise architecture concepts is a plus
Strong organizational and project management capabilities
