Commercial Banking Specialist | Auto/Wholesale Division

Job Type

Full Time - Non Exempt

General Description

The Commercial Banking Specialist is responsible for evaluating and managing the inventory of vehicles financed under floor plan credit lines, ensuring that advances granted comply with current credit policy, applicable contracts, and the institution’s established risk mitigation parameters. The role is responsible for monitoring delinquency levels based on units sold that remain uncollected and/or are outside their contractual terms. It also includes the identification, analysis, documentation, and recommendation of policy exceptions, as well as the effective management of ongoing monitoring of the financed inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Evaluate inventory units financed under floor plan credit lines to ensure that advances are aligned with credit policy, existing contracts, and the approved conditions for each client or dealer.
•    Analyze vehicle-related documentation (invoices, titles, values, inventory aging, among others) to validate the eligibility and proper valuation of the units.
•    Identify cases that result in operational exceptions to credit policy and prepare the corresponding analysis, including formal recommendations and/or justifications to obtain the required approvals in accordance with established authority levels.
•    Diligently manage collections related to units sold but not yet paid, including coordination with dealers to ensure timely payment of deficiencies, settlement of outstanding balances, and regularization of advances.
•    Administer the collection and follow-up processes for amortized inventory or inventory whose financing term has expired, ensuring repayment or regularization in accordance with contractual agreements.
•    Evaluate the results of physical inventory inspections conducted at dealerships, validating the accuracy of the financed inventory and its alignment with the bank’s records.
•    Address, document, and follow up on findings identified during physical inspections, ensuring that dealers implement the required corrective actions within established timeframes.
•    Collaborate with internal areas such as Credit, Risk, Operations, and others to mitigate credit exposure and ensure regulatory and contractual compliance.
•    Maintain collaboration with credit officers regarding the overall management of the business relationship between the Bank and commercial clients.
•    Update and maintain records with supporting documentation for evaluations, approved exceptions, collection efforts, and completed inspections.
•    Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the dealer’s financial and operational performance as a prerequisite to authorizing the release of original documents that constitute the pledged inventory collateral, such as titles, MSOs, or other contractually defined documents.
•    Evaluate key indicators such as compliance history, inventory turnover, payment behavior, deficiency incidents, physical inspection findings, credit line utilization, and the level of active exceptions to determine the overall risk profile of the dealer.
•    Maintain collaboration with the Division’s Financial Analyst regarding insurance status and provide all relevant information for the Division’s monthly delinquency meeting.
