General Description
This position is responsible for the overall management of a designated portfolio in the Commercial Banking Center for ensuring proper analysis of commercial loan applications and/or renewals with emphasis placed on compliance with all regulations and underwriting according to the bank’s policies and procedures. The incumbent will provide day to day support, coordination, and administration to the Commercial Banking Center team members as well as act as liaison to other areas of the bank ensuring the customers are effectively serviced, and credit risk is adequately assessed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Research, gather and analyze financial information, review loan proposals, synthesize pertinent industry/ market data and manage all aspects of the underwriting function relative to monitoring loan performance and referrals.
• Prepare and review credit documentation.
• Measure the customer risk and profitability to adequately assess the underlying risk.
• Ensure loans referrals consistency with credit approval requirements.
• Understand and explain relevant fluctuations.
• Proactively seek information from clients and prospective clients.
• Continuous learning on changes to banking, economic environment, bank competition and customer’s business environment.
• Identifies commercial services that will benefit the client/prospect.
• Act as liaison to internal departments and clients on a day-to-day basis.
• Manage the collection efforts.
• Coordinate and monitor customer compliance, maturity dates and all the management portfolio process.
• Arrange client’s financial data and other documents request.
• Manage the closing process for the assigned transactions.
Education
Experience
• Minimum of two years of experience in commercial banking or credit/ financial analytical tasks.
• Experience, knowledge and training in financial statements and tax returns analysis or lending background preferred.
Other Qualifications
• Proficient oral and written communication, both in Spanish and English.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Team-worker, multitasker, and positive working attitude.
• Knowledge of MS Office 365 programs such as: Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Skills to develop and maintain good relationships with clients, anticipate their needs, present alternatives to resolve situations and provide follow-up to established agreements.
• Knowledge of the financial products and services offered by Popular.
• Knowledge of local and federal laws and regulations that apply to the financial industry.

Work Schedule
Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility to travel and work extended hours, holidays and Saturdays, when required.
