Automation Engineer Associate

This role involves strategic planning, developing, and executing both manual and automated testing tasks, with a primary focus on ensuring the highest standards of product quality. The responsibilities extend to designing, implementing, debugging, and performing corrective actions during the testing phase, playing a crucial role in the overall product development process. Also, the responsibilities include testing the product before it is launched to ensure that the product is free from errors and reliable. The QA Automation Engineer, the position will actively participate in development activities, contributing to the holistic enhancement of our software solutions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify application deficiencies and work with software engineers to determine corrective actions that need to be implemented.
  • Work through the full software development lifecycle with primary focus on testing and documentation activities.
  • Engage and participate in all aspects of design reviews, test and project plans, resource estimates, and implementation schedules.
  • Develop, execute, and manage testing project plans, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Review and interpret business and technical requirements. Create functional and non-functional test cases for all levels within the scope of testing.
  • Work closely with business and IT lead on planning and executing unit tests, system test, load tests, regression tests and integration testing.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
  • Design, develop and execute automation scripts using testing tools.
  • Identify, record, document and track bugs using respective tools.
  • Perform regression testing when bugs are resolved.
  • Work closely with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements.
  • Monitor debugging process results.
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defects.
  • Be familiar with testing tools and methodologies.
  • Create, maintain, and execute performance, stress, and endurance tests.
  • Track and monitor defects to closure. Analyze the issue to determine if the problem is an application issue, user issue, training issue, data issue or a software defect.
  • Publish software defect reports, and report on overall software stability at project team meetings. 
  • Recommend QA process improvements or corrections throughout the methodology to continuously improve productivity and quality.
  • Follow IT development processes such as change management, configuration management, security compliances.

 

Other Qualifications

  • Proven work experience in software development and quality assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
  • Proficiency in automated testing tools and scripting
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
  • Experience with performance testing is a plus.
  • Excellent trouble shooting and debugging skills.
  • Experience participating in all aspects of a full-lifecycle development methodology and related quality concepts and processes.
  • Good technical documentation skills

 

Education

Bachelor or Master's Degree in Computer Engineering or Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related fields.

 

Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in software development
  • 2+ years of experience in developing and executing test scenarios.
  • Experience developing automated tests and tests frameworks with common commercial testing tools such as Selenium, Appium, Katalon, LoadRunner, JMeter, Rational Functional Tester, SilkTest, and/or Junit.
  • Programming experience in any one of the following - C++, C#, ASP.Net, Java. JSP, Scripting
  • Experience with application servers and relational databases.
  • Experience with bug tracking systems.
  • Experience testing multi-tiered web-based applications.
  • Experience with UML diagrams and design tools such as Rational Rose or Visio.
