Business Analyst | Financial Insights
General Description

The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing and providing financial and statistical insights on business results, clients trends and channel usage. Will also analyze financial performance against key business metrics and document pertinent financial highlights that will enable management to determine progress against budget and business goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze monthly business line financial results to understand net income drivers, help identify issues and propose solutions.
- Monitor and forecast Retail Deposits portfolio to explain main variances and identify trends of products and clients' behaviors.
- Explain significant variances in revenues and expenses to Comptroller Division.
- Prepare the Retail Banking Group budget to prepare and monitor business statistics, including PR and VI Regions.
- Establish business goals and provide monthly monitoring reports to ensure goal accomplishments.
- Monitor, analyze, and provide explanations of monthly accounting entries in SAP Logon, EPM, and other financial systems.
- Support Division's units in the annual business planning and presentations to senior management summarizing results and trends.
- Manage, provide insight and support business unit profitability models (Deposit Products, debit card usage, etc.).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This Job has no supervisory responsibilities but in special circumstances may lead the work of others.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, Finance or in System Information; or Statistics.
Experience
- At least three years related experience in two of the following: business analysis, budgeting process, and monitoring, profitability, or data management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to define, aggregate and analyze business results for management decision-making, problem-solving, recommending solutions, and prioritizing business issues.
- Demonstrates ability to learn and apply quickly- as needed- new analytical tools, techniques, and/or software.
- Proven ability to achieve objectives in a dynamic, often ambiguous, environment. Ability to prioritize well and be flexible in a fast-paced environment with changing demands. Stays focused on main issues and prevents irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with the timely completion of assignments.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively at all levels of management, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong Oral and Written Communication: (Spanish and English): Speaks clearly and persuasively, in positive or negative situations. Demonstrates polished presentation skills. Writes clearly and informatively. Edits work for spelling and grammar; presents numerical data effectively.
- Experienced in the use of Office 365 tools (Power BI, Sharepoint, Teams, etc)
- Expertise using data managing tools such as Excel, Power Pivot, SAS, Cognos, and Power BI.
