Business Analyst

General Description

The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing, designing, and documenting collections processes while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance data-driven decision-making. The role includes collaborating on the development of analytical and statistical models to predict customer behavior, optimize collection strategies, and strengthen risk management. This position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to transform complex data into clear, actionable insights.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Process Analysis & Improvement

  • Identify business requirements and support functional and process design, including scenario testing and workflow mapping.
  • Evaluate collections workflows, identify automation opportunities, and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of processes, operational strategies, and related controls.
  • Establish effective communication channels with operational units to understand needs and support daily operations.

 Risk & Statistical Modeling

  • Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of predictive risk models used to estimate delinquency probability, roll‑rate movements, and recovery likelihood across customer segments.
  • Support monitoring model performance, conducting back‑testing, and recalibrating as needed.
  • Analyze historical performance trends to design risk‑based treatment strategies, including contact prioritization, channel optimization, and tailored treatment paths.

 Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Develop complex queries using SQL, Power Query, Power Pivot, SAS, Cognos, Python, or other internal tools to integrate and analyze data from multiple systems.
  • Create tools that facilitate operational performance monitoring, support data‑driven decisions, and enable continuous improvement efforts.
  • Prepare and present analytical findings, trend insights, and performance results to executives and cross‑functional stakeholders.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This Job has no supervisory responsibilities but in special circumstances may lead the work of others.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or Statistics.

Experience

Two (2) years of experience in process improvement, data analysis, automation, statistical modeling, or related work within the service or financial industry.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts including probability modeling, regression, forecasting, and segmentation.
  • Knowledge of financial and risk management concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to present and interact with all levels of management including executives’ leadership.
  • Ability and capacity to present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Tools, such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Power Platform, JIRA, RPA tools is preferred.
  • Experience with SQL, SAS, Cognos, Python, Power BI and others is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, both in English and Spanish.
