Business Analyst
Position Summary
The Business Analyst is responsible for the integrity of requirements from discovery through delivery, with a strong emphasis on designing effective technical solutions, delivering high‑quality, testable user stories, and partnering closely with development and quality assurance teams to ensure successful outcomes.
The Business Analyst analyzes current‑state business processes and application functionality, defines future‑state solutions, and translates business needs into clear, implementable requirements. This role serves as a key bridge between business stakeholders, Product Owners, developers, and testers, ensuring shared understanding, solution alignment, and delivery quality across the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Requirements Ownership
- Design and support business and technical solutions that address defined business problems and user needs.
- Analyze and model current‑state and future‑state business processes, solution flows, and functional behaviors using appropriate modeling tools (e.g., process flows, activity diagrams).
- Translate business requirements into well‑defined technical solutions, collaborating with developers, architects, and Product Owners to clarify functional behavior, data needs, integrations, constraints, and non‑functional requirements.
- Maintain end‑to‑end ownership of requirements, ensuring integrity, traceability, and alignment from discovery through implementation.
User Story Definition & Quality
- Elicit, document, and refine high‑quality user stories using structured discovery techniques such as interviews, workshops, focus groups, observations, and analysis.
- Ensure user stories are clear, concise, testable, and implementation‑ready, including:
- Acceptance criteria
- Definition of Done
- Edge cases and error scenarios
- Data and integration considerations
- Facilitate User Story Handshake activities to confirm shared understanding and formal acceptance of requirements across business stakeholders, Product Owners, development teams and QA.
- Continuously refine and validate requirements throughout sprint execution to support delivery accuracy and reduce rework.
Collaboration with Development & QA
- Partner closely with application and database developers throughout discovery, design, development, and testing to:
- Clarify requirements and design intent
- Review solution approaches for alignment to business objectives
- Resolve questions and gaps during implementation
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance Analysts to ensure requirements are fully testable by:
- Reviewing test scenarios and test cases for alignment to user stories
- Supporting SIT and UAT readiness through requirement clarification and validation
- Participating in defect triage and root‑cause analysis to ensure issues are addressed at the requirement or design level
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews) to support shared understanding and delivery alignment.
Business Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Develop a strong understanding of end‑to‑end reporting processes, production critical paths, and dependencies on associated business processes to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Gain detailed knowledge of current capabilities and constraints to propose improvements that drive efficiency, scalability, and improved customer experience.
- Ensure adherence to development standards and best practices to support delivery of fit‑for‑purpose, robust, and scalable solutions.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- Salesforce Admin, or equivalent experience on the Salesforce platform preferred.
- At least 3 years of banking experience in Business Analysis, Product Management, Data/Analytics, or Operations.
- Experience working across the software development lifecycle with development and testing teams.
- Strong experience eliciting, documenting, and validating requirements and user stories.
- Experience supporting cross‑functional initiatives and working with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly Visio, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
