General Description

  • The unit is accountable for the data service and model monitoring for Fraud Prevention Division. The leader must drive and/or need to direct resources in the management of all technical and data validation exercises related to model validation and data services in the Fraud Risk & Strategy Management Unit. Also, will be accountable for establishing communication with different areas, including the Technology Group and Model Validation Unit, to meet the business’ objectives. Conduct analysis and document results for all statistical model’s owner by Banco Popular. The role will lead team of technical resources and will be expected to contribute significantly to the overall improvement of fraud prevention strategies, supported by statistical models and data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Address MRMU recommendations raised after model validation exercise.
  • Design of Model Inventory Performance Dashboard.
  • Data-driven optimization of fraud detecting rules.
  • Automated alerts for model calibration.
  • Accountable of designing appropriate tests to determine whether models work as designed and monitors existing models for adequate performance.
  • Conduct analysis and document results for all statistical model’s owner by Banco Popular.
  • Prepare validation reports to document system functionalities, methods and techniques used for modeling and test all assumptions and rules. This document details the validation work and provides recommendations to assess issues encountered during the model validation activities.
  • Measure the effectiveness of the models performing end to end validations.
  • Conduct problem solving sessions for any issue reported by the model testing.
  • Design and implement process RACIs (responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed), as applicable.
  • Define and set up KPIs and SLAs. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Coach and develop employees.  Foster a spirit of teamwork allows for disagreement over ideas as well as diversity.

Education

  • ​​​​​Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

  • At least five (5) years of experience in process validation, research, root cause analysis and/or data management, process efficiencies, or other related.

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate and work with information technology (IT) personnel.
  • Ability to gather and manipulate data from disparate sources and forms.
  • Excellent people skills to develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills to work with multiple things and comply with established deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with multiple technology domains, including aspects of Windows / Oce 365, web and/or database management, software development, networking, and automation.
  • Must have knowledge in the following systems:
    • Python
    • R Programming Language
    • SAS; Analytics Software Solutions
    • Machine Learning / statistical frameworks.
