Senior Business Operations Officer

General Description

The Operations Governance department is responsible for managing financial, operational and regulatory matters for the Operations Division. 

 

The candidate must have a strong background in regulatory reporting and compliance matters, data analysis, and project management. This role will involve collaborating with various departments to ensure timely and accurate deposit insurance determinations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee and manage the ongoing compliance with FDIC Part 370 regulations.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis to ensure the accuracy and completeness of deposits account information.
  • Collaborate with IT, Legal, and Business units teams to develop and maintain systems capable of calculating insured and uninsured amounts in deposit accounts.
  • Lead the ongoing quality efforts to ensure timely and accurate deposit insurance determination. 
  • Address any data issues or discrepancies that may impact compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to other team members on FDIC Part 370 requirements and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and ensure the company's compliance policies and procedures are current.
  • Lead the daily activities to ensure operating effectiveness of the FDIC 370 process.
  • Lead meetings and manage complex communications across all levels in the organization.  Also, effectively manage roadblocks and obtain consensus.
  • Complete applicable documentation within established due dates.
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly dry run process, as well as the annual certification package.
  • Manage audits and examinations with applicable regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and certifications to the FDIC.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory reporting and compliance matters, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)

  • Ability to prioritize and shift tasks, effectively managing multiple tasks and deadlines, with the ability to prioritize work based on urgency and importance.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong skills to integrate regulatory requirements with processes and technologies (ex. proficient in the interpretation of logics withing various applications)
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines
  • Must be fully bilingual.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written in English and Spanish.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in the use of SAP system and ability to learn tools such as Cognos.
  • Process improvements mindset.
  • Strong knowledge of FDIC Part 370 regulations and requirements.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high-quality results.
