General Description

As a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program Manager at Popular, you will be responsible to lead, design, develop, implement, and oversee DEI corporate strategies, programs, and initiatives. The main mission will be to increase awareness and understanding of the importance of ensuring an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment.  Similarly, influence our people’s behaviors by ensuring a sound implementation and sustainment of the DEI governing structure. The program manager will be equipped to facilitate difficult conversations, and to educate employees and leaders on topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deep understanding of workplace trends, and implications for a global workforce and effective leadership approach, able to collaborate and gain consensus through influence, and work across teams to address business needs.
  • Design and manage the implementation of programs and initiatives that further strategy and contribute to creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace. Oversee the planning and execution of D&I strategic plan.
  • Extensive experience influencing and collaborating with organizational change. Capability to keep strong relationships; experience working across Centers of Expertise and consulting providers.  Assist with the design and delivery of programs and initiatives to attract, retain, and promote a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Support the establishment of relationships with relevant external associations and organizations to support efforts related to diversity and inclusion. Manage diversity partnerships, tracking partnership value and making recommendations.
  • Keep current on diversity and inclusion field with respect to trends, best practices, and program development. Independently curate diverse, equitable and inclusive best practices, gather market research and create a library of resources.
  • Work closely with Chief DEI Corporate officer and the DEI Council to recommend and establish strategic plan by conducting research, gathering data, and other related activities.
  • Assist with diversity analytics, including benchmarking, tracking metrics, and analyzing. Manage diversity scorecards/dashboards, distribution, and department assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (cont.)

  • Design, develop, implement, and oversee the creation and sustainability of the Employee Resource groups in the corporation.
  • Support the Affirmative Action Program initiatives and sustainability of the Equal Employment Opportunity matters.
  • May facilitate and serve as a subject matter expert of DEI training across all levels in the organization. Assume a lead role as an internal consultant to senior leaders as they recognize and identify D&I opportunities throughout the organization.
  • Maintains the highest level of teamwork, collaboration, partnership, and ability to work within all levels of Popular.

Minimum Education

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or Industrial Psychology. 


5 – 10 years of experience in the field of DEI and AAP.

Certifications / Licenses

  • Project Management: Ability to work with multiple projects and tasks with minimum supervision. Capacity to achieve results according to plan ensuring the expected quality. Excellent organization capacity to define priorities, meet deadlines, and flexible to change. Knowledge on project coordination, identification of business needs, work plan, budget control, time management, resource allocation, team management and status reports. Must demonstrate leadership, logic, and reasoning skills.
  • Operational/Regulations Processes: Knowledge on budget administration, resources allocation, organization’s policies, and regulations. Ability to establish, conduct and track operational processes properly, and implement change
  • Supervisory Skills: Communicate effectively with colleagues and staff, coach, and mentor. Demonstrate ability to lead the work of others.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Written Communication: (English and Spanish) Advanced writing skills, with exceptional spelling and grammar. Oral Communication: (English and Spanish). Polished in English and Spanish, preparing presentations, executive summaries, and business reports for executive audiences. Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Computer and technological skills: Proficient in the MS Office 365 (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word) and other presentation software.
