General Description

 The Data Analyst supports the Internal Audit Division within the Risk Intelligence and Digital Enablement Department, helping modernize risk assessment and assurance services delivery through data analytics, automation, dashboarding, and enablement initiatives. The role partners closely with Audit Risk Practice Groups (RPGs) and the Process Excellence & Administration Team to design, build, maintain, and continuously improve Power Platform solutions (e.g., Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate) and to deliver reliable data extracts and reporting from multiple Business Intelligence platforms. This position also contributes to expanding digital and artificial intelligence literacy across the division and supports strategic initiatives related to data and analytics

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Dashboarding, Reporting & Automation 

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and reporting views that enable risk insights, management reporting, and operational transparency. This includes ensuring that there is proper documentation (user guides and technical manuals) to ensure sustainable use of tools.
  • Develop and maintain Power Query transformations and reusable data prep logic, emphasizing accuracy, performance, and traceability.
  • Create and support Power Automate workflows for recurring processes (e.g., notifications, approvals, data refresh orchestration, list maintenance, and audit support routines).
  • Establish and maintain standardized KPI definitions, calculation logic, and supporting documentation to ensure consistent reporting.
  • Pinpoints trends, correlations, and patterns in complicated data sets to provide risk insights to support risk management decision making.

Data Extraction & Data Services (BI / Enterprise Platforms)

  • Extract, validate, and prepare data from Business Intelligence and source platforms such as Cognos, SAS Enterprise, SAP, AWS Snowflake, and FIS BI portals, integrating outputs into analytics and reporting products.
  • Build repeatable extraction routines and maintain data extraction catalog and refresh schedules aligned with the needs of the Risk Intelligence or RPGs.
  • Perform and document data quality checks (completeness, accuracy, reasonableness) and reconcile results to authoritative sources or standard reports.
  • Actively manage and complete assigned data or technical service requests submitted in the JIRA platform within the agreed timeframe.

Analytics Enablement for Internal Audit

  • Support Internal Audit’s use of data analytics across the audit lifecycle (risk assessments, planning, fieldwork, reporting, and monitoring) by supporting audit teams with data needs, including building routines that are well-documented and reproducible.
  • Translate audit and risk questions into measurable metrics, analytics approaches, and reporting deliverables that are clear and actionable for stakeholders.
  • Assist with ad-hoc analyses and special requests that require rapid synthesis of data from multiple systems or sources.

Digital & AI Literacy Enablement

  • Collaborate with the Assigned Sponsor and other leaders to help scale digital enablement across the Internal Audit Division, including enabling adoption of analytics, automation, and emerging AI-assisted workflows.
  • Contributes to the preparation of learning materials, knowledge articles, user manuals, or job aid to improve usage business intelligence or analytical tool usage.
  • Document solutions, procedures, and controls for dashboards and automated processes consistent with internal standards and audit requirements.
  • Maintain version control practices, change logs, and access governance for sensitive datasets and reporting artifacts.
  • Support periodic reviews of existing dashboards/automations to ensure continued relevance, data integrity, and alignment to stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate with auditors, managers, and cross-functional partners to gather requirements, define deliverables, and manage timelines..
  • Communicate results clearly, including presenting insights and explaining methodology and data limitations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Data/Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field. 

Experience

  • At least two (2) years of experience in data analysis, dashboard development, automation, or reporting (or related experience).
  • Experience designing and developing data-driven analytical solutions end-to-end 
  • Preferred: audit experience and experience extracting or working with enterprise data sources and BI tools (e.g., Cognos, SAS, SAP, FIS BI portals).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Strong working knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, and Power Automate; ability to build production-ready solutions with documentation and governance.
  • Proficiency with data manipulation and querying (e.g., SQL, R scripts); ability to integrate multiple data sources and build repeatable transformations.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, attention to detail, and structured problem-solving skills; ability to validate and explain results.
  • Ability to present complex quantitative information in a simple, intuitive format and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive/confidential information appropriately (especially in an Internal Audit environment).
  • Preferred: familiarity with risk, control concepts, and/or audit methodologies (helpful for translating audit needs into analytics deliverables).
