Financial Analyst

Popular, Inc. is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its FP&A team, partnering closely with Enterprise Data & Analytics. This role is responsible for financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis, and for supporting financial impact discussions during the business case development of strategic, prioritized initiatives.The position offers broad exposure to operating expenses, headcount, technology investments, and includes responsibility for supporting management reporting and executive‑level review materials. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, high attention to detail, and a demonstrated interest in working at the intersection of finance, technology, and strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the annual budget, quarterly forecast, and long-range planning processes for the Enterprise Data & Analytics division.
  • Prepare and maintain financial analysis related to operating expenses, headcount, contractor spending, vendor costs, and strategic initiatives for the Data Analytics Division and other corporate efforts, including cost optimization and investment prioritization, if necessary
  • Support ad hoc presentations for finance and business leadership as deemed necessary.
  • Analyze monthly financial results and explain variances against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Assist in evaluating business cases, investment requests, and resource needs by developing financial analysis and supporting materials.
  • Track spending trends and provide insight into cost drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with the Data Analytics Division, the Transformation Management Office, Accounting, HR and other Popular divisions, to support accurate reporting and alignment across planning processes.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across reports, forecasts, and financial presentations

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University/College in related fields

Experience

 

  • At least three years of experience in corporate finance, accounting, or related analytical roles.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Experience analyzing budgets, forecasts, and monthly results.

  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint; experience with financial systems and reporting tools preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with financial planning and reporting tools.
  • Flexibility to work effectively in an environment where processes are evolving and new reporting structures are being established.
