IT Project Manager

General Description

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of IT Programs and projects to ensure that programs benefit, and project goals are accomplished within the defined scope, time, budget and quality parameters established.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Strategic Project & Program Leadership

  • Lead, plan, and execute strategic IT programs and projects, ensuring successful delivery within defined scope, time, budget, and quality parameters.
  • Responsible for overseeing and completing strategic projects related to technology from initial planning through development and implementation.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Facilitate program-level strategy sessions, planning workshops, and retrospective reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Influence across all levels of the organization to align resources, mitigate risks, and maintain momentum across initiatives.

2. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the point of contact and communicate project status adequately to all participants.
  • Collaborate extensively with all contributors, communicating expectations throughout the project.
  • Provide timely updates to key stakeholders.
  • Drive clarity and alignment in executive conversations with clear data, concise summaries, and strategic framing.
  • Own and develop compelling presentation decks and communication materials for various audiences, including C-suite stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills to articulate program goals, risks, and progress.
  • Serve as a key liaison between technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership, translating complex ideas into actionable plans.

3. Planning, Execution & Monitoring

  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and maintain project documentation, plans, and reports.
  • Monitor and summarize progress of related projects.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  • Maintain and follow Popular’s Project Management methodology.
  • Adapt to evolving project needs by wearing different hats across the lifecycle (e.g., business analyst, process improvement lead, change manager).

4. Risk, Change & Issue Management

  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities – consistently thinking two steps ahead.
  • Responsible for administrating change management, release management, and configuration processes.
  • Promptly escalate issues that cannot be resolved internally.

5. Vendor & Resource Management

  • Maintain oversight and coordination of activities, resources, and equipment to accomplish program and project goals efficiently.
  • Manage external consultants, including control and approval of consultant hours and vendor invoices.
  • Maintain follow-up and direction for project teams, programmers, and external consultants.

 

Education

Bachelors or masters in technology, Industrial or Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or BusinessAdministration.

Experience

  • At least seven (7) years of experience in project management and 5 (five) years of experience in projects related to Information Security, Information Technology systems design, installation, configuration, and maintenance (Software Development Life Cycle) or IT Infrastructure and Operations (I/O).
  • Excellent desktop software skills – MS Office Suite, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio.
  • High energy and ability to work independently and across multiple teams in a fast-growing environment.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to articulate program goals, risks, and progress. 
  • Proficiency in managing deadlines, scope, and budgets.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise-wide projects with executive visibility and impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver high-quality presentations, status reports, and communication decks for leadership and stakeholder consumption.
  • Experience leading multiple workstreams and adapting to various project roles and environments.
