Manager II - Retail Segments & Strategy Division
General Description
The Retail Segments & Strategy Division is seeking a Manager II to lead and integrate multiple functions responsible for segment strategy, segment activation, and business development.
This role is accountable for ensuring that segment strategies are clearly defined, well prioritized, and effectively executed across the organization, with direct impact on growth, profitability, and customer experience.
This role operates at a group and portfolio level, overseeing both strategic design and day to day execution. The role requires strong leadership, sound business judgment, and the ability to align diverse teams and stakeholders around common goals while managing complexity, ambiguity, and change.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Segment Strategy Leadership & Integration:
• Lead segment management and segment activation teams to ensure strategies are translated into coordinated and executable plans.
• Set priorities across initiatives, resolve cross team dependencies, and balance growth, customer experience, efficiency, and compliance objectives.
• Provide strategic and operational oversight for Retail segment portfolios, including accountability for profitability, deposit growth, and customer outcomes.
• Act as escalation point for conflicts or misalignment across segment, activation, and business development.
Segment Growth, Activation & Business Development:
• Oversee the development and execution of segment strategies, ensuring clear ownership of growth, retention, primacy, and profitability.
• Guide Segment Management team in prioritization, performance tracking, and return on investment accountability.
• Ensure activation plans, marketing campaigns, sponsorships, and community based initiatives align with segment value propositions.
• Oversee business development efforts related to Healthcare and other priority segments, supporting relationship building and pipeline growth.
People Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
• Directly manage and develop people leaders and senior individual contributors across multiple teams.
• Foster alignment and collaboration across internal teams, business units, and external partners.
• Regularly present and discuss segment strategies, investment needs, and performance results with senior leadership and cross functional stakeholders.
• Influence product, channel, operations, analytics, and compliance partners to align roadmaps and execution with segment strategies.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role has direct supervisory responsibility for approximately 13 employees, including people leaders and senior individual contributors, and provides indirect leadership across broader execution teams.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Marketing, or related field required.
Experience
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in segment management, strategy, business development, customer experience, or related leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading cross functional teams and integrating strategy with execution.
• Strong knowledge of Retail or Business banking products, channels, and service models.
• Experience operating in complex, matrixed organizations preferred.
Other Qualifications:
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate strategy into action.
• Demonstrated people leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
• Ability to influence and align stakeholders without direct reporting lines.
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, including working with incomplete or conflicting data.
• Strong communication skills (English and Spanish) and comfort presenting to senior leadership.
• Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft 365, PowerPoint, and customer insight platforms (e.g., Qualtrics).
