General Description
Receive, verify, analyze, process and respond to Subpoenas, Legal Orders and legal requests received from government agencies (state and federal), attorneys, or other legal entities for Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, Popular Bank, Popular Insurance and Popular Securities. Retrieves documents based on the legal request and complies with the delivery of documents and/or information to the requesting agencies. Ensures that the required documentation is responsive to the legal request and is disclosed in compliance with the state and federal laws and regulations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Use specialized knowledge to review, analyze and evaluate Subpoenas, Legal Orders and other types of legal requests for productions of documents in an independent manner, for which basic understanding of the legal process is needed.As part of the case handling, they are also responsible to ascertain the applicability Federal Regulations such as the Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA), Federal Benefits as well as other federal and local regulations to protect consumer’s right to protect sensitive information. Notify the customer(s) of legal requests, if applicable. Ensure to search and retrieve documents from different applications or business units to meet compliance with Legal Orders and Subpoenas, always considering Bank policies, unit’s procedures and applicable local and federal laws and regulations. Comply with due dates and Service Level Agreements. Assist the management team with staff training and special projects. Handle calls and communications with agencies, law firms, agents and other requesting parties. In addition, the analyst is required to appear as a witness representing Banco Popular in civil and criminal cases in the federal and state courts.
Education
Completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Paralegal certificate preferred
Note: Related experience refers to the professional background related to the responsibilities and skills required for the position.
Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant retail banking operations experience and/or paralegal or legal case handling experience.
Other Qualifications
• Effective oral and written communication skills in both Spanish (advanced level) and English (intermediate level)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word and Outlook and Banco Popular systems, among others
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Detail oriented, able to identify situations, look for alternatives and make good decisions.
• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Establish priorities and work with different tasks simultaneously.
• Able to work under pressure, with a sense of urgency and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers in order to meet common goals.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both clients and co-workers.
• High degree of commitment, and ability to adapt to new situations.

Availability to work extended hours, holidays and weekends.
