Paralegal

General Description

Provides support primarily, within the Litigations Group, to attorneys; conduct legal and documentary research, including tracking changes in laws and regulations, draft memorandum, summaries, and other relevant documents necessary to accomplish tasks and assist in obtaining and compiling, analyzing and monitoring statistical data from various sources. Will work in a hands-on capacity to identify, preserve, collect, and analyze electronically stored information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform work utilizing defined procedures and tools.
  • Manage and oversee electronic document collections from on premise repositories and cloud-based services.
  • Search and filter collected data per instructions.
  • Collaborate with in house counsel, outside counsel, external vendors, and other internal IT groups.
  • Handle exceptions that occur during the performance of technical work.
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Accurately and timely report progress, schedule, and issues for technical work.
  • Evaluates and responds to the sundry legal consultations handled by the Legal Division, either by telephone or personally. This includes legal consultations made by our internal clients, such as branch employees and other business units, as well as Banco Popular customers. Work includes reviewing and analyzing legal documents such as contracts, loan documents, deeds of trust, estate documents, powers of attorney and affidavits, among others, as well as researching and applying the applicable law.
  • Draft letters, legal memoranda, form documents and other related matters.
  • Prepares reports and analysis

Education

Associate degree from an accredited university or Bachelor’s Degree in Business administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience

Minimum 1 year paralegal experience or closely related skills and work experience.
