About The Product Management Associate Trainee Program

General Description

Our three-year rotational full-time program allows you to explore and contribute to Popular, while leveraging your strengths, and growing your skills.The Product Management Associate Trainee Track provides hands-on experience supporting product strategy, product discovery, roadmap planning, and performance analysis across key business areas. Participants will contribute to product initiatives while developing the technical, analytical, and business skills required to drive customer-focused solutions and business outcomes. Throughout the program, Associate Trainees will rotate across key product business areas and support functions, gaining exposure to cross-functional collaboration, product planning, feature definition, performance measurement, and strategic decision-making. Participants will receive structured training, mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities while building the competencies needed to pursue future product management roles within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver effective presentations and communicate product vision, recommendations, and insights to diverse audiences.
• Analyze performance metrics and identify trends to support data-driven decision-making.
• Evaluate alternatives and solve complex business and product challenges using analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Apply systems thinking to understand the interdependencies between business processes, technology, and customer needs.
• Learn and adapt quickly to new methodologies, tools, technologies, and business environments.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and business partners.
• Lead initiatives, establish priorities, and contribute to an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
• Demonstrate sound judgment, self-awareness, empathy, and professionalism when interacting with stakeholders and team members.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and recommend process, product, and technology improvements.
• Translate business objectives into actionable plans and monitor KPIs to measure performance and outcomes.
• Develop reports, analyses, and executive presentations using Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Utilize product management and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Power BI, and similar platforms.
• Coordinate projects, manage multiple priorities, and monitor progress against timelines and deliverables.
• Organize workload effectively and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Document product requirements, maintain product-related documentation, and support product governance activities.

Training & Professional Development:

• Complete assigned training, workshops, and development activities established for the Associate Trainee Program.
• Develop proficiency in product management principles, product discovery, roadmap planning, performance analysis, and product lifecycle management.
• Participate in the Product Management Coaching Program and apply coaching feedback to strengthen product management competencies.
• Gain exposure to diverse business products, support functions, and management perspectives through rotational assignments.
• Build product management, business, and leadership capabilities through mentorship, networking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
• Develop increasing levels of independence, accountability, business acumen, and strategic thinking throughout the program.
• Apply newly acquired knowledge and skills to progressively more complex product initiatives and assignments.
• Pursue professional development opportunities, certifications, and company-sponsored learning experiences to support long-term career growth.

• Job role to be performed mainly in Puerto Rico facilities, but employees might have the opportunity to visit Popular Affiliates and Subsidiaries in USA and VI as part of the assigned job rotation to collaborate with team members within these areas.
• Travel might be required.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Arts (Economics or Industrial Psychology), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Business Administration or related field.
• Grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

Experience

• Zero (0) to two (2) years of professional work experience. 
•  Internship, cooperative education, academic projects, leadership programs, student organizations, or other relevant experiences may be considered.

Certifications / Licenses

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Communicate effectively through presentations, storytelling, and written and verbal communications; fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Analyze data, identify trends, and solve business and product challenges using critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and drive results.
• Utilize Microsoft 365 applications and product management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Power BI.

• Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, oral and written.
