Senior Business Analyst

General Description

The Senior Business Analyst supports fraud prevention and authentication strategies across Consumer Lending Journey (CLJ), Digital Account Opening (DAO), and E‑Accounts by serving as a subject matter expert in fraud controls, risk mitigation, and data‑driven analysis. The role collaborates with cross‑functional teams and vendors to enhance authentication workflows, monitor fraud trends, and implement strategy improvements.  Leads initiatives end‑to‑end, driving process optimization, identifying emerging risks, and strengthening the bank’s overall fraud‑prevention posture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Fraud Strategy SME for authentication, fraud prevention, and risk mitigation across Consumer Lending Journey (CLJ), Digital Account Opening (DAO), and E‑Accounts, ensuring strategic alignment across all channels.
  • Act as a liaison with cross‑functional business units, technology teams, and external vendors, gathering requirements, identifying fraud‑related gaps, and translating business needs into strategic initiatives.
  • Design, enhance, and operationalize fraud and authentication strategies, including rule changes, workflow updates, fraud score optimization, and end‑to‑end process improvements.
  • Conduct deep‑dive data analysis using fraud dashboards, KPIs, transaction data, authentication logs, and case reviews to validate strategy performance and uncover vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor operational performance post‑implementation, leading weekly or periodic review sessions to track trends, identify anomalies, and recommend corrective or optimization actions.
  • Engage with vendors (e.g., for fraud tools, authentication solutions, or identity verification platforms) to provide structured feedback, escalate issues, review performance reports, and evaluate enhancement opportunities.
  • Support threat mitigation by analyzing ongoing and emerging fraud schemes, recommending countermeasures, and documenting preventive actions across CLJ, DAO, and E‑Accounts.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and automated monitoring tools to measure fraud exposure, operational efficiency, and authentication effectiveness.
  • Provide clear communication to management, summarizing project status, risks, strategic findings, and fraud trends in a structured and executive‑appropriate manner.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including automation opportunities, workflow optimization, and enhancements that reduce fraud exposure while improving customer experience.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Information Systems, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience

At least three (3) to (5) years of experience in fraud analytics/strategy within financial services, including work across two or more products, preferably for fraud prevention, authentication strategy, data analytics & monitoring. 

At least three (3) to (5) years of experience in process development and implementation, including documentation, workflow design, and operational rollout.

  • Proficient knowledge of modern methodologies, including design thinking, customer journey mapping, programming concepts, and analytical frameworks.
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and systematic, with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
  • Intermediate proficiency (preferred advanced) in Office 365 tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI.
  • Proficient in data‑management tools such as SAS, Cognos, Power Pivot, and similar platforms.
  • Moderate in using Python, R, or other programming languages to manipulate data, visualize and draw insights from large data sets is preferred.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish, with the ability to present complex information clearly.

  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate Certification
  • Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) Certification
  • SAS Certified Data Scientist Certification
