Senior Product Manager | Commerce and Local Payments
Job Type: Full Time
General Description: We are seeking a Senior Product Manager – Commerce & Local Payments to lead the strategy, development, and performance of key payment products that support our local and commerce-focused ecosystem. This role is responsible for driving adoption and growth of use cases such as P2P, Bill Pay, and other local payment solutions, with a strong emphasis on Puerto Rico’s payment landscape—including ATH Móvil and networks (Zelle, RTP).
You will act as the P&L owner for these products, defining the roadmap, platform requirements, and go-to-market strategies. This role collaborates closely with digital channels, operations, compliance, and marketing to ensure seamless delivery and adoption of payment capabilities that meet both customer needs and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Ownership & Strategy
- Define and own the product vision and roadmap for commerce and local payment use cases (e.g., P2P, Bill Pay).
- Align product strategy with broader business goals and digital transformation initiatives
- Prioritize use cases based on customer needs, market trends, and business value.
- Serve as the product’s P&L owner, accountable for adoption, performance, and cost-to-serve.
Platform & Channel Requirements
- Define and translate business needs into platform capabilities, including transaction limits, fraud checks, and directory services.
- Collaborate with technology teams to deliver scalable, secure, payment platforms.
- Collaborate with digital channel teams to ensure intuitive, customer-centric experiences across platforms.
Compliance & Risk
- Translate regulatory requirements into product features and policies.
- Define and maintain risk controls such as dual authorization, transaction limits, and fraud mitigation along with Risk teams in the bank.
Pricing & Promotion
- Develop pricing strategies and bundling options to drive product adoption and revenue.
- Track efficiency metrics and cost-to-serve; identify opportunities for optimization.
- Partner with Marketing to develop and execute go-to-market strategies.
Operations & Enablement
- Work with Operations to define onboarding, servicing, and maintenance processes for clients.
- Ensure operational readiness for new features and enhancements.
Adoption & Metrics
- Establish KPIs such as activation rates, STP (straight-through processing), and engagement metrics.
- Partner with Digital and Marketing teams to drive adoption and improve user experience.
- Monitor performance and iterate based on data insights.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a team of product managers and analysts.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on innovation and execution.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and career development support.
Local Market Expertise
- Maintain deep knowledge of Puerto Rico’s payment ecosystem, including ATH Móvil and other local networks.
- Build relationships with local partners, including ATH Movil and other Puerto Rico-based providers.
- Stay informed on regional trends and innovations to ensure competitive positioning.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in product management, preferably in commerce and local payments or financial services.
Certifications / Licenses:
No certifications or license are needed.

Polished in preparing presentations, executive summaries, and business reports in English for executive audiences.

Collects, research and complements data; Synthesizes complex or diverse information. Demonstrates diligence; Applies design principles; Generate creative solutions. Strong quantitative, research and analytical skills. Experience with data analysis, persuasive and informative writing, workload management, and process management.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Develops alternative solutions.
- Project Management: Ability to prioritize and work with multiple projects and tasks with minimum supervision; self-direct and task switch between strategic and tactical initiatives regularly. Capacity to achieve results according to plan ensuring the expected quality. Excellent organization capacity to define priorities, meet deadlines, and flexible to change. Knowledge of project coordination, identification of business needs, work plan, budget control, time management, resource allocation, team management and status reports. Must demonstrate leadership, logic, and reasoning skills. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum or Kanban.
- Operational/Regulations Processes: Knowledge of budget administration, resources allocation, organization’s policies, and regulations. Ability to establish, conduct and track operational processes properly.
- Computer and Technological Skills: Proficient in MS Office 365 such as: MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Experience with tools such as: JIRA, Confluence; data visualization and design tools such as: Power BI, among others is desired.
