Digital Banking Engineering
It’s an exciting time to join the Popular Bank’s Digital Banking Engineering team. We’re transforming the Engineering unit to drive a major transformation strategy that will result in a more scaled and reliable platform for MiBanco. Digital Banking is critical to this transformation, and the Digital Banking Engineering Supervisor will lead the Engineering team through the next phase of growth and beyond.
In partnership with stakeholders across the organization, the Digital Banking Engineering Supervisor will help shape the future of MiBanco by leading automation testing teams responsible for the analysis, design, evaluation, planning, and testing of the IT business application. This role will work closely with the business product managers, management and technical support functions to identify and maximize the use of applications, improve business processes, and promote the strategic use of information technology.
The Digital Banking Engineering Supervisor will lead a hybrid local and offshore based automation engineering team. Popular Bank’s Digital Banking team has a strong collaborative and cooperative culture. There is opportunity here to expand into other areas of interest.
In this position, you will:
In partnership with stakeholders across Popular Bank and within ITO, the Digital Banking Engineering Supervisor will lead a team to:
• Lead and Design:
o Define milestones and success criteria for QA engineers to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of testing activities.
o Lead the creation of the overall quality assurance approach for programs, including major time frames, deliverables, and testing objectives aligned with project goals.
o Ensure all QA projects follow established testing methodologies. Maintain centralized documentation of test plans, timelines, reports, and quality metrics.
o Act as a liaison between stakeholders, development teams, and QA engineers to ensure clear communication of quality objectives and progress. Serve as a change agent for continuous improvement.
o Communicate QA project status (daily, weekly, and/or monthly) to relevant stakeholders, highlighting risks, defects, and readiness for release.
o Evaluate third-party testing tools and services. Support strategies for implementing new QA technologies and automation frameworks.
o Review and approve invoices from vendors related to QA services. Ensure adherence to governance and compliance standards for quality assurance activities.
o Hire, train, and mentor QA engineers. Promote best practices in manual and automated testing, performance testing, and defect management.
• Automation Standards
o Provide guidance to the team and ensure they adhere to automation standards
o Proactively keeps track of progress and helps identify roadblocks and any impact to program delivery.
o Assist the team in resolving obstacles to keep the program on track.
• Process Improvement
o Manage resource allocation and successful on-time delivery.
o Identify and implement creative, data-driven recommendations to improve the tools and processes that lead to increased software engineering productivity.
o Actively look for opportunities to automate tasks to increase team efficiency.
o Proactively work with the team to identify process improvements to minimize errors and deficiencies related to the code and test automation strategies.
o With an ever-expanding ecosystem of technology used internally, you will need to quickly gather context on existing workflows, while also researching what we have yet to explore or build.
o Keep up to date with the latest software engineering trends.

To be considered, you will need:
• A leader capable of managing a growing team and working effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
• Superb communication skills written, verbal, data visualization
• A minimum of 3–5 years in QA roles, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Proficiency in QA tools (Selenium, JIRA, Xray).
• Knowledge of automation frameworks and scripting languages.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong foundation in digital banking strategies, including Product Management, Change Management and Problem Management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and proven ability to bring projects to successful completion.
• Must be self-motivated, team oriented and able to operate with minimal supervision.
• Highly engaged, intellectually curious individual who seeks continuous learning and is comfortable with a test-and-learn environment
• Financial services/ banking background strongly preferred
• Experience working in an offshore environment a plus.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
