Sr Supervisor
General Description
The Vendor and Operational Risk Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring an effective and compliant program in providing centralized shared services to Retail Lending Operations, Credit Cards, Deposit Products, Personal Loans and Channels in relation to operational and vendor management risk activities.
This position oversees managing operational and vendor risk matters as well as ensuring related forms and questionnaires are accurately completed and submitted by the established dates. Position requires effective communication with business units, vendors as well as internal risk support teams including Procurement, Financial Operational Risk Management, Audit, SOX, Information Security, Compliance and Legal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include the completion of Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and related activities as detailed in Popular’s Business Continuity Program, completion of the Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), as well as Audit Questionnaires and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) deliverables.
- Role is accountable for the procurement, onboarding, and ongoing due diligence review of assigned service providers as per Popular’s Procurement and Outsourcing Risk Management Policy.
- Responsibilities entail vendor budget and payment processing as well as acting as a liaison in audits/exams.
- Work closely with Business, Vendors and Risk Management teams to ensure compliance with corporate risk procedures and deliverables in a timely manner.
- Take prompt and appropriate action to correct risk related recommendations identified through audits/exams or second line of defense teams.
- Conduct recurrent analysis across responsibilities to identify opportunities where risk can be mitigated and develop and implement action plans.
- Actively participate in audit and vendor business reviews.
- Anticipate risk concerns, provide recommendations, communicate with stakeholders, and implement corresponding approved actions within the established time frames.
- Monitor and timely escalate any risk concern that could negatively impact Popular’s image, clients, or business.
- Prepare periodical status reports and share with Management.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Business Administration or related field.
Experience
Minimum three years of experience with financial services and/ or related field, i.e., Operations, and Risk Management. Experience as supervisor is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)
- Ability to build strong partnerships with the Business, Vendors and Risk Management areas.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in English and Spanish.
- Ability to identify control deficiencies and recommend potential solutions where appropriate.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Positive mindset with the willingness to adapt quickly.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize team tasks.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and complete assigned tasks in the established timeframe
- Ability to make decisions under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to work with multiple projects and tasks with minimum supervision.
- Capacity to achieve results according to plan while ensuring the expected quality.
