Sr Tax Analyst
General Description
Responsible for providing comprehensive and complex analytical support to the Tax Manager specializing in tax accounting analysis and reporting for both PR and PB by ensuring compliance with federal, state and local tax laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of Puerto Rico, U.S. (federal and state), and other jurisdictions' income tax provisions, ensuring compliance with ASC 740, and in compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- US GAAP Tax Accounting- Support the Tax Manager in tax accounting under US GAAP, including the preparation of financial disclosures related to income taxes, ensuring Preparation/consolidation of tax related information for all Popular entities, in order accuracy and in compliance with related regulatory and accounting requirements.
- Assist in the creation and management of the tax budget, providing detailed analysis and forecasts.
- Tax Accounting Research and Compliance: US GAAP- Conduct tax research, stay updated with the latest tax laws/ regulations and tax accounting standards, ensuring compliance with all tax accounting related matters.
Assist with income tax audits and other tax filings, as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree in taxation or a related field is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting and compliance, preferably in a public accounting firm or a corporate environment. Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations. Ability to analyze and interpret tax data.
CPA, ESQ or MBA preferred but not required.

Computer Skills:

Knowledge of administrative/ office procedures and systems such as word processing, file and record management, transcription, form design, and other office procedures. Also have knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personnel services.
