Treasury Investment Officer

General Description

Responsible for the day to day treasury operations that include liquidity management, collateral management, execute transactions, support to other business areas and processing of daily Treasury’s transactions.   The position will also assist in the management and monitoring of the investment portfolios and participate in special projects as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare a cash flow forecast for BPNA, BPPR and BPPR-IBE. 
  • Design, develop and implement customized funding plan for each institution in compliance with the ALCO guidelines and bank policy.  The funding alternatives include: repurchase agreements (Repo), brokered deposits, Federal Home Loan Bank advances and others. 
  • Provide support to business lines in cost of funds, exception in the rate of deposits, product pricing and calculation of prepayment penalties.
  • Update spreadsheets to calculate the pricing of securities without third party pricing. 
  • Collaborate in the investment management process and monitor its compliance with the bank policy. 
  • Assist in the security impairment analysis (OTTI memo), update of financial covenants, and calculation of different discount rates. 
  • Coordinate with credit the assessment and approval for counterparties. 
  • Assist in preparing the Treasury’s budget and support the forecasting process.  Analyze variances to budget and forecast. 
  • Available for other ad hoc projects as requested. 

Education

Completed Bachelo'rs Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.

Experience

Computer Skills:

Intermediate/advance proficiency in MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

 

Finance & Accounting:

General knowledge of accounting principles, applicable laws, regulations and practices, fixed income markets, derivatives, financial analysis, and reporting of financial data.

 

Investments and Wholesale Funding:

General knowledge of financial products, derivatives and services related to the Treasury, for example, Repos, Caps, and Agency MBS.
