General Description

 Consolidate and analyze financial data taking into account the region goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

FINANCIAL PLANNING, ANALYSIS & BUDGETING: Assist in the preparation, coordination, and consolidation of the Region's annual budget. Work closely with unit managers to gather necessary budget inputs and ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Support in developing financial forecasts and projections and maintain updated forecasts throughout the year as actual results are reported. Analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial performance, comparing actual results to budgeted figures. Identify over/under budget areas of opportunity. Prepare variance reports, highlighting significant deviations, and assist in identifying the root causes of variances. Perform GL analyses to assess the accuracy of the accounting transactions, investigate and correct errors as needed. Monitor the controllable accounts and collaborate with the unit managers to decrease expenses and stay within the assigned budget.  Provide teams with monthly reports on controllable accounts, net income, and other monitored expense accounts.

GENERAL ACCOUNTING: Assist with completing and ensuring accurate and timely general ledger entries. Prepare and review various journal entries for day-to-day accounting functions. Ensure accurate coding and approval of invoices and create correcting entries as needed. Oversee the accurate and timely processing of utility invoices. Communicate regularly with the Vendor Management Coordinator and other units on various A/P matters and strategize to streamline processes and cut expenses. Create & monitor accruals and maintain subsidiary ledgers.   Performs and assists with monthly, quarterly and year-end closings. Provide advice and counsel to units on complex accounting transactions and appropriate accounting procedures.

REGULATORY & MANAGEMENT REPORTING: Prepare, develop, analyze and distribute various regulatory, financial and management reports ensuring accuracy and submission in compliance with due dates. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as needed to support the decision-making process by the division manager.

 OREO MANAGEMENT: Support the overall management of the Region's OREO portfolio to include the onboarding, property monitoring, financial reporting, vendor management and disposition/sale of the property. Prepare and analyze financial reports related to the OREO portfolio, including profit/loss, insurance coverage, rental income, maintenance expenses, potential gains/losses on asset carrying value and or sales. Visit properties in collaboration with the Region's Facility team to identify needed maintenance and or security.

 OTHER: Serves as back up in journal entry approvals and provide guidance in day-to-day activities in manager's absence. Analyze procedures and workflows of the unit to improve operational efficiencies and performance standards, identify administrative needs and develop appropriate solutions and recommendations. Coordinate an annual review of the unit procedures. Support auditing processes. Actively participate in initiatives and special projects as required. 

 

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
Bachelor’s Degree in Business-Related Specialty

Experience

 At least 3-4 years of experience in full accounting cycle and preparation of various financial reports.  

Additional Knowledge

-Knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting principles. Knowledge of General Ledger complete accounting cycle, accounting entries, analysis of subsidiaries, assist in the preparation of financial information.

-Able to integrate and apply accounting knowledge to the analysis of operational and financial processes.

- Able to prioritize, anticipate situations, identify problems, analyze their causes and resolve them in a timely and accurate manner.

-Detail-oriented and highly organized with a focus on accuracy and quality.

-Able to work with minimal supervision and delivery dates, focused on achieving results through collaboration and teamwork.

-Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

-Must be proficient in MS Windows (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint. System proficient in SAP a plus.
